Inspiration from Paul Bass
It’s not every day you hear stories of athletes or humans, in general, overcoming the adversity of a life-changing injury like paralysis. Mountain Biking or any other action sports, in general, are inherently dangerous. Yes there are ways you can help mitigate risk, and yes there are ways to protect yourself, but injuries can happen. Some worse than others. People that are passionate about mountain biking and other sports do it because they love it. The risk is worth the reward.
Paul Bass is one of those people who epitomizes the overcoming of adversity with hard work. A well know slopestyle rider by trade, Paul Bass crafted his riding career with countless wins eventually transitioning to the Big Mountain riding stage of Professional Mountain Biking. Unfortunately, Paul crashed hard during the 2015 Red Bull Rampage sustaining a burst fracture on his T12 vertebrae leaving him paralyzing from the waist down. Instead of giving up Paul peserved to through rehab and was eventually able to walk and get back on the bike. The Documentary “Any One of Us” follows his journey and is truly inspirational to watch. I’m telling you now, grab the kleenex.
Now several years later and tons of bike rides later Paul puts that journey and his current life into perspective. Take a watch and then get out on your bike for a pedal.
